FICCI appreciates sanction of SEZ in Tripura

GUWAHATI, October 5, 2019: India’s premier business forum Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry or FICCI has appreciated sanction of maiden Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tripura.
Union Commerce Ministry has sanctioned northeast’s first Agro Based Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be set up in Sabroom in south Tripura. Tripura government sent the proposal only in June this year and within a short time the ministry approved Rs 147 crore worth project.
In a statement FICCI said: “(SEZ) will pave the way for investment inflow and make the state self reliant in the coming days”.
The SEZ would come up at Jalefa in Sabroom, near Bangladesh border. The project proposal anticipated Rs 1550 crore worth investment.
The Commerce Ministry made Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Ltd as developer of the ambitious project to be installed over a land of 25 Hectares.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb expressed his utter happiness for approval of the project which is expected to create employment for 12000 people.
