Death sentence for two accused of murder after rape

AGARTALA, February 13, 2020: A court has on Thursday awarded death sentence to two men who were accused of raping and murdering a tribal girl student in south Tripura.

The 14-year-old tribal girl was raped and murdered at East Manikya Dewanbari undr Natun Bazar police station on December 5 2018. The culprits kidnapped her on her way to school, raped her and forcefully drowned her to death in a pond.

Special Judge AK Nath sentenced Kastarai Tripura (20) and Banjoy Tripura (21) to death as prosecution established their guilt in the crime.

The family of the victim girl hailed the harsh verdict handed to two youths.
