CAB: INPT disrupts transport- train services in Tripura

AGARTALA, December 5, 2019: INPT (Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra) disrupted vehicular movement and train services in Tripura Thursday to lodge protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) set to be tabled in the parliament next week.
The 12 hour train-road blockade agitation however was peaceful and no untoward incident occurred anywhere, police said. Heavy security presence was seen at venues of protest, but troops were under strict instruction not to break up the blockade.
INPT President Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl and General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma led the protest on the Assam Agartala National Highway in Baramura Hills. The traffic on the highway came to a complete halt as protestors were squatting on the highway.
Similarly protestors halted train services.
With contentious CAB and the NRC (National Register of Citizens) caused hooting situation in northeast India, indigenous parties became hyepr active to woo community to consolidate support base.
