REGIONAL, September 27, 2025: Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar Saturday urged health workers and community leaders to collaborate in making a model state for implementing the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA) during an address at the Tirot Sing Memorial Civil Hospital, Mairang. He stressed the significance of women's health, linking it to the overall well-being of families and the State’s potential for national recognition.
The Governor expressed concerns about rising health issues, such as cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and substance abuse, and called for increased awareness and community action against tobacco and drug abuse.
CH Vijayashankar distributed Nutrition Kits, Sanitary Pads and Medical Kit Bags to beneficiaries and recognised the contributions of health workers and the district administration pledging formal recognition for outstanding efforts.
Dr Timothy L Nonglait, Medical Superintendent, added that the campaign focuses on holistic nourishment and community-level healthcare for women, adolescents, and children, aiming to empower families and promote healthier lifestyles. The hospital provides various services including antenatal check-ups, immunizations, and health screenings, serving an average of 6,000 patients monthly and organises blood donation drives.
