Chief Minister Rio inspects landslide-hit NH-29 at Liezocha
Called for urgent repairs be completed before Hornbill Festival

REGIONAL, September 25, 2025: Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio inspected the landslide-affected stretch of National Highway-29 at Liezocha, Old BRTF Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima B Henok Buchem, Senior Superintendent of Police Khodi Rhetso, Chief Engineer Akho Zutso and other officials of PWD (NH), district revenue and administrative officials accompanied Dr Rio.During the inspection, the Chief Minister held discussions with the officials on both immediate and long-term measures to restore the damaged portion of the highway. Possible solutions deliberated included widening of the hillside, filling of affected stretch, and seeking expert technical assessment from the Ministry.
Dr Rio directed the concerned department to take up urgent repair works, stressing that the road must be made motorable at the earliest. He further instructed that at least metalling of the affected stretch should be completed before the Hornbill Festival begins given the crucial connectivity role of NH-29.
