Tripura government opposes Congress strike

AGARTALA, September 20 2020: Tripura government has opposed opposition Congress called 12-hour general strike Monday and directed law enforcing agencies to thwart attempts to disrupt normal life.
Congress meanwhile said that its workers and supporters will be on the streets to enforce the strike called to protest what it called deteriorating law and order situation, alleged relentless attacks on opposition rank and file, and all round failures of the incumbent BJP led coalition government.
BJP and its fronts have also opposed the strike and urged people to maintain their usual activities.
The Secretariat Administration has issued a circular directing government officers and staffs to remain present in their respective office Monday. It warned that any unauthorised absence will be dealt as per service rules.
Meanwhile the police are preparing to cope with the picketers and possible untoward situation during strike.
