AGARTALA, August 5, 2020: Tripura CPI(M) leader and former minister Manik Dey proved it yet again that "Old Habits Die Hard". The protest savvy leader of the former ruling party of the state cannot just sway his long cherished habit.
Dey and his coterie Wednesday thought of staging a protest outside office of the CITU, a CPI(M) affiliate to raise issues for public consumption. They all hung protest banners around their neck for display.
They started lining up on the street and waiting for the journalists to cover latest of their series of protests. But police were not in a mood to allow ‘unauthorised’ assembly of people as several restrictions including Section 144 are enforced across the state to prevent spread of coronavirus.
Manik Dey landed in a heated exchange with police officers to allow them carry on agitation. But the officers did not relent and ultimately made the leader and his team retreat.
With posters still hung around neck, they had gone back inside the CITU office on Office Lane locality.
