25 member pipe band team from Mizoram selected to participate

REGIONAL, January 19, 2024: The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, is organising a National School Band Competition in four categories at an All-India level for the Republic Day Celebrations in 2024. The event will take place in New Delhi on January 21 and 22.
The Government Mizo High School, winners of the Eastern Zone Competition held in December 2023, will be competing in the National Competition in the Pipe Band Boys category. State and zonal level competitions have already been concluded, and the National Level (Final) Performance will be held at the National Stadium in New Delhi.
Out of the 73 schools that participated in the zonal level, four teams from each zone (Eastern, Western, Southern, and Northern) have qualified, making a total of 16 band teams that will compete at the National Level Band Competition. The winning teams in each category will receive a cash prize, a trophy, and certificates.
The Government Mizo High School Pipe Band was established in 2000 and has performed at many national events since 2001. Their first appearance was at the NCC RDC Delhi in 2007, where they marched and displayed at the Prime Minister's Rally.
The band consists of 25 boys, and they have been practicing for eight months in preparation for the National School Band Competition 2024. Since its introduction in 2017, hundreds of schools have participated in the competition, which is organised at three levels - state, zonal and national.
