IIM hosted the event aligning with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision

REGIONAL, November 14, 2025: The Media Dialogue – Conversations that Connect and Inspire hosted by IIM Shillong during the Shillong Cherry Blossom season gathered around 18 national journalists, editors and media professionals from India. This event reflected the institute's commitment to enhancing informed public discourse focusing on research-driven communication and aligning with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Participants praised IIM Shillong for establishing a platform for constructive dialogue among journalists, scholars, and practitioners.
Moderated by veteran journalist Patricia Mukhim, various sessions explored the role of responsible storytelling and credible journalism in enriching India’s development narrative, emphasizing transparency and informed citizenship. The second session, led by Prof Parijat Upadhyay, highlighted community-focused journalism as a means of fostering authenticity equitable representation and bridging information gaps vital for national integration.
The third session, moderated by Prof Rohit Dwivedi, examined Northeast India’s potential in the country’s development narrative, stressing the importance of regional representation and youth engagement.
Keynote speeches from Hemango K Dutta and Prof Basav Roy Choudhury addressed the significance of collective communication efforts and research in shaping narratives.
