Massive fire kills 25 including tourists at Goa night club

Local BJP MLA raised concerns about the nightclub's licensing

NATIONAL, December 07, 2025: 25 people including tourists and staff members were killed in a massive fire at the 'Birch by Romeo Lane' nightclub in Arpora, Goa, in the early hours of Sunday. Authorities have confirmed the identities of all the victims that included 20 nightclub staff members and five tourists.

Among the tourists were four from Delhi - Saroj Joshi, Anita Joshi, Kamla Joshi, and Vinod Kumar - identified by their relative, Bhavna Joshi. The fifth tourist, Ishaq from Karnataka was identified by his father.

The 20 staff victims comprised five from Uttarakhand, four from Nepal, three from Jharkhand, three from Assam, two from Maharashtra and one from West Bengal. The state government released this list of victims Sunday night.

Meanwhile Goa BJP MLA Michael Lobo has raised concerns about the nightclub's licensing indicating that it may have been granted without proper documentation by the local Panchayat.
