AGARTALA, January 21 2021: Several shops in Golaghati market were gutted in a devastating fire. The fire broke out Wednesday midnight. Bishalgarh fire service unit with support of local people and traders doused the fire before causing devastation further.
About an hour later, the fire brigade reached Golaghati market. Earlier, seven shops in the east lane of the market were burnt to ashes. Extra fire engines go to the market from Takarjala and Bishramganj. The tireless efforts of the fire-fighters saved other shops in the market.
The traders affected by the devastating fire are Benu Debnath, Narayan Debnath, Krishna Debnath, Manik Ghosh, Kamal Ghosh and Shyamal Roy. Their families were dependent on this business. If they don't get quick government help, they won't be able to move on.
Bishalgarh sub-divisional magistrate Jayant Bhattacharya visited the fire-ravaged market on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, Sepahijala district magistrate Bisweshwari B, MLA Birendra Kishore Devvarma and others rushed to Golaghati Bazar.
The traders have been demanding for a long time that the area or the traders provide a fire service. But there was no role in the end. The traders of the area placed demands for setting up a fire service station and a police outpost in Golaghati market.
Officials assured them of looked into in-to matter at the earliest.
