AGARTALA, March 03 2021: CPI(M) Wednesday alleged that its senior leader and former Minister Badal Choudhury and several other leaders were attacked at a remote hamlet in south Tripura. It further claimed that Choudhury sustained injuries and two vehicles were badly damaged.
Police said they were investigating a complaint received from the former minister who is currently out in bail in connection with the case of a few hundred crore worth financial scam in the PWD. Badal Choudhury was minister for PWD for a decade during erstwhile CPI(M) regime.
Ruling BJP has vehemently rubbished claims that its supporters were involved in the stone pelting on the vehicles carrying the CPI(M) leaders. It said the entire incident in question was stage managed and it said to have occurred at a place under the tribal autonomous district council.
“The district council election schedule has been announced and CPI(M) is trying to extract political mileage by falsehood”, a BJP spokesperson said.
