Covid-19 cases cross 300 mark with more civilian infections

AGARTALA, May 31 2020: The spurt of Covdi-19 cases continues unhindered in Tripura with highest single day jump Sunday. Samples of 45 people who returned from Chennai in special trains were detected positive during the day to take the tally beyond 300 mark.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who holds the health department portfolio made announcement on new detections in two separate lists. In the first list 11 cases were declared and the second list informed of 34 new cases.
Altogether 45 infections were detected Sunday –the highest single day jump in the state so far. The tally of total cases now stands at 316.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed that those infected are residents of the state who returned in special passengers trains from coronavirus hotspot Chennai over past two days.
Tripura has now second highest number of Covid-19 cases in northeast India after Assam which has made a huge surge with 1216 cases.
Of total cases in Tripura, 163 infections are that of BSF personnel and their family members. Most of them have recovered and released from hospital.
Chief Minister appealed to people in general and travellers in particular to follow quarantine instructions and cooperate with the government.
