SHILLONG, July 04 2020: Meghalaya BJP state President Ernest Mawrie Saturday condemned the Lawsohtun violence incident Friday afternoon and urged upon the state government to take stringent action against people who resort to take law into their own hand.
“This is duty bound of the State Government to see that no one violates the SOP for Covind 19 instead of individuals or groups taking the law into their own hand. This may be mention that few boys were attacked by another group resulting injuring five youths”, he said.
Mawrie further appealed the citizens of Meghalaya in general and Shillong in particular to strictly follow the protocol of Covid-19 as the cases in the state are increasing.
At least five youths, who were playing basketball, were assaulted on Friday at Lawsohtun in Shillong by a group of masked miscreants in what is suspected to be a hate crime.
In an FIR the parents of the victims alleged that the assault was unprovoked and brutal.
