Another 23 die in lightning strikes in Bihar

PATNA, July 04 2020 (HS): The deaths due to lightning continue unabated. 23 people were killed in Bihar Saturday and over a dozen sustained burn injuries. The injured people admitted to the local hospitals while government announced compensation to the families of the victims.
Earlier eight people had died of lightning Friday.
According to disaster management department nine people were killed in Bhojpur and five deaths were reported from Saran district. Other deaths were reported from Kaimur (3), two each from Patna and Jehanabad, and one each from Gaya and Buxar.
The met department has issued alert for heavy rains and lightning in next 24 hours in various districts. It has advised people not to come out of their homes particularly during rain. Heavy rains Saturday was reported from Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Saran, Siwan and Supaul districts.
The rain lasted for over three hours and badly affected the public life. Patna met department director Anand Shankar issued an alert on possibility of heavy rains and lightning during the next 48 hours across the state.
