REGIONAL / NATIONAL: The Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) will host the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition (NEIINFRA Summit) on June 15-16 at the Lariti Performing Centre in Mawkasiang, Shillong. The Government of Meghalaya will serve as the Host State with Build India as the Co-Organiser.

The event was announced during a press meeting in Shillong Wednesday attended by key stakeholders in the region's infrastructure development.

Union Minister of Roads & Highways Nitin Gadkari will be the Chief Guest for the inauguration. The summit aims to unite representatives from the eight Northeastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura alongside members from eight Union Ministries.

This gathering is anticipated to be one of the largest infrastructure-focused events in Northeast India.

Sanjay Goyal, Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the summit's role as a premier platform for policy dialogue, investment promotion, networking, and knowledge exchange. He identified three key pillars essential for future infrastructure: People, Prosperity and Planning.

Goyal stated, “Together, let us build a stronger, more connected Northeast India for a Viksit Bharat.”

Bajrang Lohia, President of FINER, remarked on the summit's potential to shape the infrastructure landscape of the region, asserting it as an opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration aimed at sustainable economic growth and connectivity within Northeast India.

Over 800 delegates are expected to attend, including 300 senior government officials, industry leaders, investors, and various development stakeholders. Rajeev Agarwal, Vice President of FINER, noted the event's potential to catalyze new opportunities and enhance public-private collaboration, aiding sustainable regional development.

Participating ministries span key sectors such as Road Transport & Highways, Civil Aviation, Commerce & Industry, and others, indicating the event's comprehensive nature. The summit will include high-level discussions, over eight dedicated sessions, extensive networking opportunities, and a large exhibition showcasing innovations, technologies, MSMEs and startups.

Focus sectors for the summit will include Roads & Highways, Tourism Infrastructure, Industrial Infrastructure, Digital Infrastructure, Aviation & Airports and Ports & Waterways. Conrad K Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, is serving as the Guest of Honour.

Several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from the Northeastern states, senior policymakers, industry experts and business leaders are also slated to participate.

Knowledge partners such as IIM Shillong, HVS Anarock and Invest India are involved contributing expertise through knowledge papers related to the discussed sectors.
