
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stated that Tripura is the pioneer state in India to integrate the "Track Me" feature into the 112 India Application to enhance public safety particularly benefiting women and the elderly. At a passing out parade for newly appointed Tripura Police constables at the KTDS Police Training Academy here Thursday, he revealed that 218 sub-inspectors will soon receive appointment letters as part of measures to improve the state's policing system.
The parade marked the formal induction of 476 constables, 318 women of them women, reflecting the state government's focus on women empowerment. Dr Saha spoke on the unique qualities of women in service roles asserting their reliability compared to men and proudly noted that a woman commander led the entire parade.
He reiterated the significance of the Tripura Police, which has received the President's Colours and celebrated its 150th anniversary, signifying its esteemed position within India and the northeast region.
Chief Minister also highlighted the diverse training programmes provided to the constables which encompassed physical training, law education, jungle warfare, field craft and disaster management indicating a well-rounded approach to police preparation. He also announced a cabinet resolution for the recruitment of an additional 916 police constables confirming ongoing efforts to boost the police force.
Dr Saha shared progress in securing two IR battalions for the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) through the support of Union Home Minister underscoring the government's commitment to enhancing security and employment opportunities in the region.
Director General of Police Anurag, the Principal of KTDS Police Training Academy Jayanta Chakraborty and senior police officials attended the event.
