AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Friday lashed out at the CPI(M) and described it as politically bankrupt while accusing it of attempts to undermine the BJP in various ways. During the felicitation ceremony for the newly appointed state president of the BJP, Abhishek Debroy, Dr Saha predicted that the BJP would gain all ten seats from the CPI(M) in future elections and stressed the need for the party to strengthen its organisational capacity.
In his address, Dr Saha highlighted the importance of discipline within the BJP, advocating that Karyakartas (workers) should align their efforts with public expectations. He urged party leaders and booth presidents to enhance their effectiveness to ensure lasting success for the BJP not just in 2028 but beyond.
He dismissed the Congress and CPI(M) as viable alternatives, indicating that both parties have lost credibility, with the CPI(M) in particular being harmful to both the state and the nation.
Dr Saha criticised the CPI(M) for spreading misinformation and called for a targeted effort to eliminate their influence in Tripura echoing sentiments that the party's supposed 'golden age' was merely a façade. He connected the CPI(M) to rising drug issues, claiming that drug mafias have burgeoned under their governance and that many of these criminals are now facing legal repercussions.
Looking towards the future, Chief Minister reiterated the BJP's commitment to becoming more organisationally robust and outlined the government’s achievements including improvements in the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), per capita income and literacy rates. He noted that Tripura had been recognised as a front-runner state by the NITI Aayog and had significantly increased its medical education capacities with the establishment of additional MBBS and postgraduate seats along with a new dental college.
The programme was attended by new BJP state President Abhishek Debroy, former President Rajib Bhattacharjee and other senior BJP leaders and workers.
