Tripura CM inspects lost school getting revived
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha criticised the CPI(M) party for allegedly misleading the public ahead of upcoming elections and for neglecting the state's education system during its successive tenures. During a visit to the apparently abandoned Khetramohan School in Shanti Para area in Agartala Saturday, Dr Saha announced plans to rebuild the school with a focus on maintaining high educational standards.
"It would be comparable to the reputed government-run Shishu Bihar School. He opined that the school, which had closed years ago, would be revitalised to serve local educational needs, particularly in providing English-medium instruction.
Dr Saha recounted the school's history and expressed enthusiasm for its renewal, citing that many successful citizens in the community had studied there. He outlined that the state government had recognized the demand for the school’s reopening and initiated special efforts to ensure its revival.
The new construction plan includes a G+4 building with 16 classrooms, starting as a Senior Basic school up to Class VIII, with future upgrades up to Class XII. The Chief Minister pointed out the slow progress of construction and instructed the relevant company to expedite completion.
In addition to the classrooms, Dr Saha noted that the construction would have two lifts, accommodating 15 people each, and incorporate a smart-class system across subjects. He also referred to the necessity of addressing surrounding infrastructure to support the school, including potential land acquisition to facilitate access and alleviate study pressure on neighboring schools.
The Chief Minister responded to criticisms regarding urban development by inviting the opposition to witness the tangible improvements, asserting that prior governance had failed to adopt educational responsibilities and infrastructure planning.
