Triprua CM criticised erstwhile left front governments
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha criticised the erstwhile Left Front governments for failing to acknowledge the contributions of the Manikya dynasty and Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya to the development of Tripura. Speaking at a ceremony where he garlanded the Maharaja's statue in Agartala city on his birth anniversary Wenesday, Dr Saha stressed that the significant history of the royal family had been deliberately obscured suggesting an effort to separate it from current narratives.
He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertion of recognising both development and heritage wishing that the Manikya dynasty's contributions to the state need to be honored.
Chief Minister praised Maharaja Bir Bikram's achievements, including enhancing unity between tribal and non-tribal communities and establishing one of Agartala’s oldest municipal bodies. He criticised the previous government's silence on these historical contributions stating that the current administration is committed to restoring the legacy and ensuring that the Manikya dynasty receives the recognition it deserves in Tripura's history.
