AGARTALA: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stressed the significance of the Tiranga or national flag as a symbol of sovereignty, glory and patriotism during his speech at the Har Ghar Tiranga Rally & Partition Horror Remembrance Day in Agartala Friday. He urged citizens to uphold the dignity of the flag linking it to the sacrifices made during India's partition in 1947 that led to mass migrations and considerable suffering among various communities.
Dr Saha stressed that the remembrance of these historical events is crucial to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies, particularly for the current generation, who have not witnessed the partition firsthand.
He highlighted that while there may be a lack of awareness about the needs of the country until crises arise, it is essential to create a sense of national pride and unity. The Har Ghar Tiranga movement, initiated by PM Modi, serves as a platform to reinforce emotional connections to the flag and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
Dr Saha reiterated that the national flag is more than just fabric; it represents the collective history and struggles of the Indian people urging everyone to take pride in it.
In the context of national development, he mentioned the government's goal of achieving a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, asserting that this vision can only be gained through the collective effort of all states. His remarks encapsulated the themes of national identity, the importance of remembrance and the call for unity in progressing towards a prosperous future.
