Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024 announced

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards (TNNAA) for 2024 celebrating outstanding achievements in adventure activities across four categories: Land Adventure, Water Adventure, Air Adventure and Lifetime Achievement. The awards recognise persons for their remarkable contributions and aim to enhance qualities such as endurance, risk-taking, teamwork and quick decision-making in challenging environments. 

The approved awardees for 2024 include Baljeet Kaur and Skalzang Rigzin in the Land Adventure category, Rimo Saha in Water Adventure and Shiv Prasad Chamoli receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. The TNNAA will be formally presented by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan alongside the National Sports Awards 2025 with the specific date to be announced later. 

Each recipient will be honored with a statuette, a certificate, and monetary recognition amounting to Rs 15 lakh.

Selections for the awards were determined by the National Selection Committee, which thoroughly evaluated nominations. The objectives of the TNNAA extend beyond mere recognition; they aim to inspire youth engagement in adventure activities, nurturing a culture of courage, resilience and excellence. 

Through these awards, the government emphasizes its dedication to promoting adventure sports and encouraging broader participation among young people across India.
