During an engagement with all ranks at the Eastern Air Command HQs in Shillong Saturday, he highlighted the emergence of hybrid threats including cyber challenges, information warfare, logistics resilience, supply chain security and drone technology—as critical components that necessitate a transformation beyond traditional defense strategies.

Singh reiterated the concept of Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) for India’s national security, citing the historic success of Operation Sindoor which showcased India’s capability to assert its security and sovereignty independently. Acknowledging the dedication of the armed forces under challenging conditions, he expressed gratitude for their sacrifices, affirming that these efforts allow citizens to lead secure lives. He noted that personnel are often first responders in crises expanding the narrative of their commitment to serving not just the nation but humanity.

Singh underscored the strategic value of the North-East region, framing it as a vital component of India's security and prosperity as well as an integral aspect of the Act East Policy. He remarked that India's increasing global presence renders the significance of the North East even more pronounced.

Concluding his address, Rajnath Singh portrayed the Defence Forces as a manifestation of national unity, encapsulating a culture that embraces diverse ideas and enduring values. He commended the growing role of women within the armed forces, representing a blend of modernity and cultural integrity that defines India's identity on the world stage.
