Raksha Mantri performs Yoga with around 1,000 soldiers

REGIONAL: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh participated in the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebration Sunday by joining approximately 1,000 soldiers from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army in a series of asanas and breathing exercises at the Eastern Air Command Headquarters in Shillong, Meghalaya. 

The event was attended by the dignitaries like Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia and Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa all of whom also participated in the Yoga practices. 

In his address to the news media, Rajnath Singh emphasised the holistic nature of Yoga and its role as an art of living. He highlighted how Yoga helps individuals connect with their inner selves, society, nature, and ultimately, the divine. 

He also stressed the benefits of Yoga in promoting inner stability, mental clarity, and emotional resilience. In a subsequent post on X, Rajnath Singh credited the global recognition of Yoga to the relentless efforts and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

He also stressed how Yoga represents India’s rich ancient traditions and contributes to the well-being of humanity worldwide. The Raksha Mantri encouraged people to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines to cultivate a healthy body, a calm mind and a strong nation.
