Prime Ministers of India and Mauritius engage in discussions

NATIONAL / WORLD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, engaged in discussions during the Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations in Victoria Sunday. Their talks focused on enhancing cooperation between India and Mauritius, specifically addressing the implementation of the Special Economic Package offered by India. 

Prime Minister Modi highlighted India's dedication to Mauritius's development, underscoring that current bilateral projects are integral to advancing the nation's healthcare, connectivity, sustainable development and blue economy.

According to an announcement from the External Affairs Ministry, both leaders reviewed the comprehensive scope of the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership. This partnership encompasses numerous areas including development cooperation, maritime security, trade, capacity building and strengthening people-to-people ties. 

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaboration under the Vision MAHASAGAR initiative, which aligns with India’s Neighbourhood First policy and its overarching commitment to the Global South. 

The discussions also included an exchange of perspectives on regional and global issues of shared interest. The leaders reiterated their resolve to work closely together to promote mutual growth as well as to ensure peace, stability and prosperity within the Indian Ocean Region.
