AGARTALA: National Immunization Day 2026 was observed Sunday in Tripura to protect children under the age of five from polio. The West Bhubanban Primary Health Centre in West Triprua district organised a state-level programme to mark the day.

The health campaign aims to keep the country polio-free on a permanent basis and safeguard children from this hazardous disease. Dr Debasri Debbarma, Director of Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the event and delivered a speech urging parents to bring their children under five years of age to be vaccinated.

He outlined the importance of this vaccination drive in protecting future generations.

Dr Shovik Debbarma, Member Secretary of the State Health and Family Welfare Society, delivered the welcome address. Guests including State Immunization Officer Dr Sribas Debbarma and the Joint Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) were present at the event.

The programme was ceremonially inaugurated by distinguished guests administering two drops of the polio vaccine to children aged 0–5 years from the West Bhubanban area.
