AGARTALA: The Kisan Helpline Centre (KHC) has been inaugurated in Agartala at the State Horticulture Research Centre in Nagicherra Sunday. The facility aimed at providing essential agricultural advisory services, outreach to farmers and grievance redressal support.
Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced this initiative Sunday marking a significant expansion from the original Kisan Call Centre (KCC) established in 2004, which focused primarily on delivering timely agricultural information and expert advice via a toll-free helpline.
In 2026, the KCC was rebranded as the Kisan Helpline Centre (KHC) to encompass a wider array of services. Farmers can now access these essential services by calling the toll-free number 1800-180-1551. The KHC operates through a network of 22 centres nationwide, equipped with 450 seats and functions under the guidance of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare in India, Minister said.
The Agartala Centre also supports neighbouring states including Mizoram and Meghalaya operating daily from 6 am to 10 pm that includes weekends and public holidays. A structured grievance redressal mechanism is in place, where initial complaints are reviewed by the KHC Supervisor escalating to relevant officials if required.
Once resolved, the cases return to KHC for farmer feedback and closure.
To enhance operations, the KHC utilises a robust call management and analytics system, maintaining comprehensive Call Data Records (CDRs) that document call identification, duration, status and timestamps. This technology-assisted approach facilitates effective communication between farmers, agricultural experts and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare ensuring that the KHC Agartala effectively meets the needs of the farming community.
