India condemns police brutality in Pakistan occuiped Kashmir

By Various Jun 09, 2026

NATIONAL: The Ministry of External Affairs of India Tuesday responded to reports of significant police brutality in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) where over 30 protesters have reportedly been killed and around 200 injured due to clashes with security forces.

The ongoing unrest has intensified following the banning of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), a crucial civil society group advocating for political and economic rights in the region.

In a media briefing, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed India's concerns and urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for its alleged human rights violations, criticising the nation for spreading misinformation to divert attention from its own shortcomings.

Meanwhile, India reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Afghan populace through humanitarian aid and development initiatives and confirmed the successful rescue of all 24 Indian crew members from the ship MT Marivex, marking a focus on regional stability and cooperation.
