HP Ghosh Memorial Medical College to come-up in Ambassa
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the incumbent state government has taken various steps for the development of Dhalai District Hospital and that a medical college will also be established here. “We had promised to set up a medical college in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) area. That promise is now being fulfilled,” he said.
Chief Minister was speaking to mark the foundation stone laying ceremony of the HP Ghosh Memorial Medical College in the Lalchhari area of Ambassa, headquarters of the Dhalai district, Monday.
The HP Ghosh Memorial Foundation will build 100-bed medical college on about 20 acres of land.
The Chief Minister thanked and congratulated Chandrashekhar Ghosh on behalf of the people of the state and Dhalai district for taking the initiative to set up a medical college.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has taken various steps for the development of Dhalai District Hospital.
“A medical college will also be established here. If you try, you will succeed one day. The state government is also running the state in the same direction as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running the country. The officials in the state are working on the path shown by the Prime Minister,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is trying to ensure that everything is not centred on Agartala.
“In addition to setting up a medical college in Ambassa, an Ayurvedic college is being set up in Tepania, Udaipur. If this medical college is set up in Ambassa, the surrounding conditions and socio-economic conditions of the place will improve greatly. Employment opportunities will be created for about 5,000 people directly and indirectly. The head of the college said that initiatives will also be taken to set up a paramedical college here in the future,” said Dr Saha.
The Chief Minister also presented information on the development of health infrastructure in the state. He said that a decision has been taken to set up a health university with the health institutions of the state.
Dr Saha stated that a business conclave was organised in Agartala a few days ago. Around 1,200 industrialists from the state and outside the state participated.
“Many of them have expressed interest in investing in the industrial sector in the state. Tripura is now ranked second among the states in the North-East in terms of GSDP and also in terms of per capita income. NITI Aayog has declared Tripura as a front-runner state. This has been possible due to the successful implementation of the development-oriented agenda of the state government,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged the local population to provide all necessary assistance to build this medical college.
Dhalai Zila Parishad Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLA Manoj Kanti Deb, MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma, MLA Swapna Das Pal, MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma, Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Dhalai District Magistrate Vivek HB, Bandhan Group Chairman Chandrashekhar Ghosh and HP Memorial Foundation Director Neelima Ghosh were present at the event.
