Grade 9 girl from NE visits Royal Tyrrell Museum in Canada
KOHIMA: A childhood dream materialised when Mishanli Easteryna Yanthan, a 14-year-old Grade 9 student from Hope Academy in Dimapur, Nagaland, visited the renowned Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada.
The foundation of this aspiration was laid eight years prior, in 2018, when Mishanli, at the tender age of six, encountered Canadian visitor Julian Erb. Their discussion centered around dinosaurs, which sparked her initial interest in the museum.
This encounter inspired her to aim for a future visit, motivating her to finance the trip through her writing endeavors. In pursuit of this goal, she published her first book, ‘The Unforgettable Trip to Drumheller’ and Other Stories, in 2020, followed by ‘The Prehistoric Adventure’ in 2022.
Both works were subsequently adopted by the Nagaland Education Mission Society as part of the Samagra Shiksha initiative further supporting her dream and illustrating her journey from inspiration to achievement.
