Govt aims to ensure that benefits of development reaches all: CM
AGARTALA: The government aims to ensure that the benefits of development reach marginalised communities throughout the state. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said this at a ceremony inaugurating six projects and laying the foundation stones for 12 others at the Dolugaon Higher Secondary School grounds at Kailashahar in Unakoti district.
A total investment of ₹45 crore 18 lakh 61 thousand is allocated for these 18 development projects.
Since December 6, 2022, Unakoti district has seen the inauguration or foundation-laying of 56 projects, amounting to roughly ₹197 crore 68 lakh. The new projects are expected to further enhance development activities in the district.
The Chief Minister in his address praised the ‘Clean and Green Unakoti’ initiative focusing on the development of tourism infrastructure to leverage district's historical and cultural significance. He stressed the importance of improving tourism to enhance the local economy and create jobs, mentioning ongoing efforts to enhance other tourist destinations in Tripura, such as Dumboor, Matabari, Neermahal and Ujjayanta Palace.
The Chief Minister also stressed air connectivity as vital for tourism revealing discussions with the central government on extending the Kailashahar Airport runway. Plans include transforming Pushpabanta Palace into a five-star hotel that he asserts will significantly contribute to job creation and economic growth in the tourism sector.
The recent ‘Destination Tripura Business Summit’ attracted around 1,200 investors, resulting in investment proposals worth approximately ₹1.32 lakh crore, with projects valued at about ₹8,000 crore moving forward into implementation.
Chief Minister cautioned that development should benefit not just the capital or major cities, but all districts and rural areas. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inclusive development philosophy, local representatives and government employees are collaboratively advancing what they term ‘Team Tripura’.
The 'Prati Ghare Sushasan' programme aims to provide essential government services directly to citizens, reducing the need for them to repeatedly visit offices for certificates and public services. Underpinning these advances is Tripura's peaceful environment, which has significantly improved connectivity and investment.
Adding importance to the 'Act East Policy', he said that the government is actively enhancing infrastructure aiming to increase Tripura's investment attractiveness with an approximate outlay of ₹10,000 crore directed towards this goal.
