Free kits from USA to Mizoram State Cancer Institute
AIZAWL: Under the initiative of the Mizoram Governor General (Retd) Dr Vijay Kumar Singh 3,875 reliable Cancer Screening Test Kits intended for use at the Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI), Zemabawk, Aizawl, have recently been received free of cost from the United States of America. The test kits were donated by Dr Dahiya and Dr Chauhan of the USA, who are known to the Governor.
The consignment comprises 3,875 kits including 975 Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) test kits, 950 Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) test kits, 975 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test kits and 975 Fecal Occult Blood test kits.
Governor noted that public health is important for the state’s progress. He expressed concern about the high incidence of cancer and related mortality rates in Mizoram and stressed that early detection and timely treatment are essential.
He hoped the kits would be used effectively for the benefit of patients, described their receipt as a useful step in ongoing efforts to address cancer in the state and reiterated his commitment to continue working for the health and well-being of the people of Mizoram.
