Employment opportunities beyond traditional government jobs: CM
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha attached importance to the government's commitment to creating alternative employment opportunities beyond traditional government jobs during an event organised by the Fire and Emergency Services, and Skill Development Department in Agartala. He highlighted specific initiatives aimed at improving socio-economic standards and empowering women towards self-reliance.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a new Fire Service Station in Manu Banjul built at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore 45 lakh and facilitated job offers for 16 aspirants as drivers within the Fire and Emergency Services Department at the programme held in Agartala Sunday.
Under the Chief Minister's Skill Development Project with five job offers and sewing machines formally handed over to the beneficiary women on the stage.
Dr Saha reiterated the government's dual focus on state development and public safety, underscoring a commitment to enhancing personnel availability by establishing new fire service stations across the state. Current operations include 52 fire service stations with additional sites launched in Gorji, Boxanagar and Ganganagar. He informed about plans to establish fire stations at five more locations.
During his address, he highlighted the significance of integrity, dedication and vigilance among public servants in protective roles. He reaffirmed the goal of empowering women through the Skill Development Project, which has benefited 2,130 women in the financial year 2026-27, providing them with training and access to self-reliant job opportunities.
