Effective roadmap for welfare of SC community in Tripura
AGARTALA: An effective roadmap is being formulated in Tripura to enhance the delivery of welfare schemes to Scheduled Caste (SC) communities as stated by SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das at a review meeting here. The Minister stressed the importance of proactive measures by the SC Welfare Department and related agencies to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive timely benefits.
The meeting detailed assessment of previous financial year schemes, addressing the welfare of 34 Scheduled Caste communities and focusing on socio-economic progress, educational opportunities and self-employment.
Key schemes discussed included the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana, PM-AJAY, Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Bikash Yojana and various scholarship programs. The SC Welfare Secretary Deepa D Nair presented initiatives aimed at improving the communities' development highlighting achievements like awarding pre-matric scholarships to 17,545 students and post-matric scholarships to over 20,000 students.
Officials informed that the Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Bikash Yojana provided assistance to 1,928 beneficiaries for small enterprises. Significant investments have been directed towards development projects including the Maharajganj Fish Market and various water bodies with a budget of ₹72.78 crore.
The meeting also told successful initiatives like the Inter-Caste Marriage Incentive Scheme and the completion of SC Girls’ Hostels along with skill development programmes and loan recovery initiatives implemented by the Tripura Scheduled Castes Cooperative Development Corporation.
