
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Friday chaired a meeting in Agartala to review the upcoming Tripura Urban Livability Improvement Project (TULIP), which is financially supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The meeting included ADB officials Manoj Sharma, Director of the Water & Urban Sector, along with his team members Sorin Chung (Urban Development Specialist), Bhavesh Kumar (Senior Project Officer) and Bing (Safeguard Specialist).
TULIP is designed to enhance the quality of life for citizens through the development of climate-resilient infrastructure, improved urban mobility and participative governance that seeks to maintain the unique identity of the state. The initiative will encompass a comprehensive range of urban infrastructure improvements, which include upgrading water supply systems, enhancing sanitation facilities and improving urban connectivity to facilitate livability and climate resilience in the targeted areas.
The urban development initiative will focus on critical sectors across four regions of Tripura aiming to facilitate sustainable and inclusive urban growth.
Over the past decade, ADB has provided loans for various projects in Tripura towards urban development, tourism promotion, power generation and distribution enhancements and broader infrastructure improvements.
