Chief Minister inaugurates ICU and CSSD at AGMC&GBP Hospital
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha Monday made an important announcement over establishment of special green corridors in the state to facilitate the swift movement of ambulances carrying patients during medical emergencies to prevent delays caused by traffic congestion. He stressed ongoing efforts to enhance medical services aiming to connect all main referral hospitals in the state with advanced medical infrastructure so that residents do not need to seek treatment outside the state.
This initiative aims to reduce the number of patients referred out of state to zero, he stated.
Dr Saha made these statements during the inauguration of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) at the Super Specialty Block of Government Medical College and GBP Hospital in Agartala. The new ICU equipped nine beds designated for both men and women and is part of a broader initiative costing Rs 13.5 crore to ensure rapid and continuous advanced medical services.
The goal is to improve health safety for patients alongside infrastructure development at district and sub-divisional levels.
The Chief Minister mentioned that digital services are being introduced in hospitals, with many already implementing these services. Training programmes for doctors and health workers are underway to ensure the efficient operation of these modern facilities.
"Plans also include the installation of state-of-the-art CCTV systems for enhanced security at GBP Hospital and ensuring a steady supply of essential generic medications."
Dr Saha felt need for coordination between patients and healthcare professionals, and conducive hospital infrastructure for advancing medical service delivery in the state.
State's Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gitte and Agartala Government Medical College Principal Dr Tapan Majumder were present at inauguration.
