
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi Tuesday to discuss several key developmental issues pertaining to the state. The discussions encompassed a variety of significant propositions including the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Tripura, the expansion of the National Highway connecting Kamalpur to Shantirbazar and initiatives aimed at enhancing the dairy industry.
Dr Saha stressed the need for improved sports infrastructure and the laying of double-line railway tracks. Besides, he advocated for the introduction of the 'Vande Bharat' Express train service, which aims to facilitate better connectivity.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the creation of employment opportunities in the technology sector and the growth of the tourism industry alongside necessary financial matters and the allocation of additional housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
Further discussions included increasing Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and the issuance of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards specifically for the Bru community as ell as proposed enhanced allocation for natural gas supply in the state.
After the meeting, Dr Saha expressed optimism about the future growth of Tripura, attributing the expected momentum in development and public welfare to the coordinated efforts between the Central and State governments under the Prime Minister's leadership. He conveyed his warm regards to Prime Minister Modi, congratulating him on completing 12 years of service and acknowledging the transformative impact of initiatives such as 'Digital India,' 'Swachh Bharat,' 'Ayushman Bharat' and PMAY - all of which have significantly improved the quality of life for numerous citizens while contributing to the vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India) and enhancing the country’s image internationally.
The Chief Minister also engaged in discussions focused on the holistic development of Tripura as well as various organisational matters.
Prime Minister Modi later referenced the meeting in a social media post underscoring the importance of their discussions.
