Chaturdash Devta Temple isa key religious tourism hub: CM
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stressed the significance of the Chaturdash Devta Temple as a key religious tourism hub in Tripura. He remarked on the temple's heritage preservation while advancing its development.
Chief Minister addressed audiance during inauguration of annual week long Kharchi Puja and fair at Khayerpur Wednesday.
"The Kharchi Puja serves as a unifying festival for all societal segments, transcending caste and tribal divisions, and aims to purify the Earth and promote virtue," Dr said.
He articulated a deep respect for the main deities worshipped during the puja and acknowledged its rich cultural and historical impact on Tripura. Highlighting its origins with the royal family's fourteen deities, he noted the festival's evolution into a communal celebration that attracts diverse participants from across states and countries.
"Despite historical challenges, such as treacherous travel conditions, the community's commitment to the puja has remained steadfast."
He reiterated the festival's importance in advancing unity in diversity, enhancing social bonds and promoting cultural exchanges among different groups in Tripura. This year's festival theme is 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,' focusing on environmental protection, with various cultural activities and exhibition stalls set up to engage attendees.
Chief Minister confirmed that efforts are underway to modernise tourist amenities at Chaturdash Devta Bari while maintaining its cultural essence with thousands of annual visitors signaling its rising prominence as a religious attraction. The government's commitment to this development displays a broader dedication to the state’s cultural heritage and community welfare, he opined.
