WORLD: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is on a three-day visit to Bhutan from September 14 to 16 focusing on enhancing electoral cooperation between India and Bhutan. This visit is particularly noteworthy as it aligns with Bhutan's National Voter’s Day celebrations with key discussions on electoral collaboration scheduled.
Gyanesh Kumar's visit includes a meeting with Bhutan's King in Thimphu, where important bilateral relations will be underscored.
A major highlight of the visit is the participation in the National Voter’s Day event on September 15 at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law in Paro, where he will serve as the chief guest. The following day, he will hold meetings with Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and engage in discussions with senior officials from the Bhutanese government.
Through these interactions, the visit aims to fortify institutional cooperation between the Election Commission of India and its Bhutanese counterpart, building upon a history of enduring mutual communication and collaboration in electoral matters, election commission officials said.
