BRICS Youth and Sports Ministers’ meeting slated at Vizag
NEW DELHI: India will host the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and the BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh, on August 22 and 23 as part of its BRICS Chairship for the year. These ministerial sessions aim to enhance cooperation among the 11 BRICS member countries in youth affairs and sports, under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” illustrating a commitment to a people-centric approach.
The meetings will be led by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya with active participation from Raksha Khadse, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports along with senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The official agenda includes a country statement from Dr Mandaviya and closing remarks from Khadse during the Youth Ministers’ Meeting.
The Youth Ministers’ Meeting on August 22 will concentrate on youth development and empowerment, addressing topics such as education, skills, entrepreneurship, well-being and sustainable development. It aims to build on discussions from previous BRICS meetings, considering recommendations from the BRICS Youth Council Meeting and the BRICS Youth Summit to identify future cooperative efforts.
The meeting is expected to culminate in the adoption of the BRICS Youth Ministerial Joint Declaration and the BRICS Youth Cooperation Framework.
On August 23, the BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting will reconvene to reinforce collaboration in sports among the member states. This gathering will delve into various aspects of sports including traditional and indigenous disciplines, sports technology, and manufacturing. It will conclude with the adoption of the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration.
