REGIONAL: A seminar titled "Article 371(A) and The Nagaland Village Council Act 1978," organized by Ao Senden and hosted by the Minister of Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, took place in Mokokchung Tuesday. Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen, addressed the audience, highlighting that Article 371(A) is a constitutional provision designed to protect the traditional and customary identity of the Naga people.

He noted the prevalent misunderstandings surrounding this provision, which he deemed unfortunate.

Imchen underlined that Article 371(A) is a temporary transitional measure advocating for adaptation to evolving societal needs and adherence to established laws. He pointed out the role of laws as instruments of social change, essential for societal progress. Furthermore, he stressed that while laws should promote the common good effective governance hinges on their proper implementation for the benefit of the populace.

The seminar featured additional insights from the main speaker CT Jamir, who is a legal advisor for Ao Senden and a Senior Advocate at the Gauhati High Court, alongside Sentiyanger Pongen, another Advocate from the same court, providing a multifaceted view on these important legal subjects.
