
AGARTALA: Tripura Power Department in collaboration with the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) has installed 8,364 solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM scheme benefiting the same number of farmers.
In additional 2,531 pumps are being installed which will further assist 2,531 farmers, officials said Monday. The initiative aims to double farmer incomes by providing free solar power and irrigation, covering a total of 41,820 kani of land.
The project is funded jointly by farmers and the government with the latter covering most costs. Tripura has won the first prize in the Northeast under the PM-KUSUM initiative with a target of 10,895 pumps to irrigate 54,475 kani of land, the officials added.
