60,000 join, prelims of 23rd Edition of Technothlon ends
NATIONAL: The 23rd edition of Technothlon, Techniche IIT Guwahati's flagship international school championship, successfully concluded its Prelims examination on 12 July, setting a new benchmark with a record participation of over 60,000 students from across India and beyond.
Open to students of Classes 9 to 12, Technothlon is India's only theme-based logic examination that goes beyond conventional school syllabi to celebrate reasoning, creativity and analytical thinking. Bringing together participants from diverse schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Army Public Schools, coaching institutes and educational institutions across the country, the championship united thousands of young minds through a shared spirit of curiosity, imagination, and problem solving.
Conceived and organised entirely by the students of IIT Guwahati, Technothlon has spent over two decades inspiring students to embrace the joy of thinking differently. This year's edition was spearheaded by the Chief Organisers, Ritik, Poulomi, Shreshtha, Deep, Kabya and Uday, whose shared vision was to make Technothlon more than just an examination. Together with an enthusiastic team of student volunteers, they sought to create an experience that encourages every participant to question boldly, explore fearlessly and discover the excitement of learning beyond textbooks.
Reflecting on the successful completion of the Prelims, Uday Ingle, the Convenor of Techniche 2026 said, "Technothlon has always been more than a competition—it is a platform that encourages students to think critically, question fearlessly, and embrace the joy of learning. The overwhelming participation this year reflects the growing enthusiasm among young minds for exploring knowledge beyond the classroom. We look forward to welcoming the finalists to the IIT Guwahati campus and providing them with an inspiring experience of innovation, technology, and collaboration."
Following the successful culmination of the Prelims, the top 25 teams from each squad, Hauts and Juniors, will earn the opportunity to compete in the Technothlon Mains on the breathtaking campus of IIT Guwahati during Techniche, the institute's annual techno management festival, this August. Beyond the final showdown of logic and creativity, the young finalists will immerse themselves in a vibrant atmosphere of technology, innovation, and research, making the journey as memorable as the competition itself.
The Grand Champions of each squad will receive cash prizes worth over ₹2.7 lakh, along with an educational visit to ISRO. In previous editions, winners have also earned the opportunity to visit NASA, reflecting Technothlon's enduring commitment to rewarding curiosity with unforgettable experiences.
Guided by its enduring motto, "Inspiring Young Minds," Technothlon continues to champion a simple yet powerful belief: that education is not merely about finding the right answers, but about cultivating the curiosity to ask better questions. As the journey now moves towards the Mains, IIT Guwahati looks forward to welcoming the nation's brightest young minds for an unforgettable celebration of logic, innovation and limitless possibility.
