359 killed in deadly serial blasts in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, April 21, 2019: 359 people have been killed and the toll is climbing in series of explosions in Sri Lanka on Sunday. 500 people injured in the blasts that ripped apart three churches and three popular hotels in capital Colombo and adjoining locations.
35 foreigners are among dead, mostly participants in Easter Mass prayers.
The explosions were simultaneous, went through one after another in the churches and holiday destination hotels. No organisation has yet claimed responsibility for the worst attacks in a decade.
World leaders including that of neighbouring India expressed shock and grief over huge fatalities in apparent terrorist strikes in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan government deployed army in Colombo and closed education institutions for a few days.
Sri Lanka Prime Minister urged people to avoid propagating unverified reports and speculation. He assured government was taking immediate steps to contain this situation.
