Tele Samad no more, dies at 74

Dhaka, April 06, 2019: Veteran comedy actor Abdus Samad aka Tele Samad, who entertained fans for four decades with his unique style of comedy, has died at private hospital in Dhaka. He was 74.
He breathed his last at around 11:30am on Saturday at the age of 74, confirmed hospital authorities.
Tele Samad had been suffering from old-age complications for the past few years. He had a bypass surgery in the USA in 2017. Samad returned to Bangladesh in September the same year after recovery.
A fan-favorite actor and lovable comedian, Abdus Samad was born in Munshiganj on January 8 of 1945. He adopted the name Tele Samad when his career began to take off.
His debut movie was “Kar Bou,” directed by Nazrul Islam and released in 1973.
Samad studied at the fine arts department of Dhaka University, and had a talent for music. He was music director of the movie, 'Mona Pagla.' Tele Samad’s fame skyrocketed after his movie 'Nayanmoni' was released.”
His most memorable movie is “Paye Cholar Poth,” and he was a playback singer in more than 50 Bangladeshi movies.
Tele Samad’s final acting performance was in the movie ‘Zero Degree,’ directed by Animesh Aich.
