Tripura government mulls education reforms

AGARTALA, June 9, 2019: Tripura government has decided to effect some major changes in primary and school education sector to excel education scenario of the state. In one such initiative, uniform question papers would be introduced in all government schools.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that measures getting implemented from this year would shove state’s education sector to national level. He informed that a special technical examination unit (STEU) was being set up under the education directorate.
“Purpose of STEU is to prepare common and quality questions for all classes in all schools. This is aimed at achieving standard in all spheres of education in state as well as end disparity in learning system”, minister asserted.
Minister said the incumbent BJP-IPFT coalition government is determined to improve education scenario which was neglected by the past regimes. He also spoke on ‘failure’ of no-detention policy and stated that students studying in Class V and above would have to appear in examinations.
The state government also decided to introduce Nursery level in 67 government primary schools across the state. This has been part of the new measures ushered by the state.
