Kohima, May 15, 2019: Under the initiative of the Department of School Education, a state level sensitization of district personnel on 'Community Mobilization & Training' was held at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, on Wednesday.
Principal Secretary School Education & SECRT, Menukhol John, delivering his key note, expressed happiness over the slight improvement of 43% pass percentage in the HSLC examination compared to 40 % last year in government schools. He added that even at the higher secondary sector, the government schools have done fairly well and especially at the commerce level government schools have performed much better than the private institutions in terms of pass percentage.
He remarked that the government of India has started grading each and every state in terms of performance grading index and added that things are going to be different with the revamping of Samagra Shiksha and the general activities of the School Education Department.
John stated that mobile app will be introduced next month in all the schools where through the app various activities will be uploaded by the respective schools from all districts across the state. He said the mobile app will help in the visibility of implementing various activities at the elementary, secondary and higher secondary level. He therefore, urged all the participants to make full use of the mobile applications in order to bring visible transparency in the activities of every district.
John assured that issues in terms of shortages and timely distribution of text books, uniforms, performance indicators of teachers and students will be addressed in the coming days. He also said that the department will focus on the drop out students and children with special need focus in the coming days.
Director, School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe, speaking at the program stated that school is a managerial society where the prosperity of school reflects the prosperity of the society. Tsopoe, mentioned that, Education department is the only department of the State, where society evaluates the performance every year, henceforth, one needs to be responsible in carrying out and addressing the problems of the community.
He also appealed to identify the problems and difficulties of the children and to identify the resources that are available in the community, so the department will be able to take the initiative and create community mobilization.
Chief Secretary and Chairman Nagaland Education Mission Society, Nagaland, Temjen Toy, IAS, released video on roles & responsibilities of SMCs/SMDCs which will be used at the district and block level training programs.
