IPFT Vice President, supporters join Congress

Kohima, April 08, 2019: Vice President of Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT), Ananta Debbarma, and scores of supporters joined Congress on Monday. State Congress President Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarma handed over party flags to the new entrants.
Extremist leader turned politician Ananta Debbarma was co-founder of IPFT which came into existence with its separate tribal state or ‘Tipraland’ plank. IPFT shook hands with BJP ahead of February 2018 assembly elections and alliance succeeded securing huge mandate to end longtime rule of CPI(M) led left front.
The joining programme occurred at Ujjyanta Palace, residence of stage Congress President. Senior Congress leaders including west Tripura constituency candidate Subal Bhowmik were present.
Ananta Debbarma said internal conflicts griped IPFT and leadership are overlooking helm of affairs of the party. He said the party has shifted from its core issues.
