Tripura assembly begins amid noisy scenes

AGARTALA, January 17, 2020: The special two day session of Tripura Assembly got underway Friday with opposition CPI(M) members creating ruckus over law and order situation in the state. Alleged Illegal arrest of former minister and CPI(M) stalwart Badal Choudhury in PWD scam of 2008 was a key issue of protest.
The session was specifically convened to pass bill on reservation for ST –SC communities though the house will also transact some important business.
Despite a brief session, but Governor Ramesh Bais delivered his speech at commencement of proceedings which is mandatory being first session of the year.
Opposition CPI(M) members created chaos in the well of the house and made slogans over ‘deteriorating law and order situation amid speech of the Governor. They also made reference of Badal Choudhury currently in jail for not obtaining bail and demanded quashing of ‘false’ case against him.
