Total transformation of healthcare in 5 years in NE, Dr. Harsh Vardhan

IMPHAL, September 16, 2019: There is going to be a total transformation of the healthcare delivery system in the whole of Northeastern regionwithin the next five years. This was stated by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare while addressing the 48th Foundation Day celebrations and graduation ceremony of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the process of transforming the capacity of healthcare system in the North East region has already begun under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He added that 'Ayushman Bharat’ scheme -PradhanMantri Jan AarogyaYojana (AB-PMJAY) is the world's largest government-funded healthcare programme that covers over 50 crore beneficiaries from all sections of the society.
The Union Health Minister also stressed that the doctors will play a vital role in ensuring that the benefits of these measures reach the people. He called upon the fresh graduates of RIMS to dedicate them to the service of the nation. He added that the most important quality of being a good doctor is discipline, honesty and hard work.
Preeti Sudan, Secretary of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, was the Guest of Honour. Annual Report of the Institute was presented by the Director of the Institute, Prof A Santa Singhon the occasion.
